Spinach toor dal is healthy and tasty variation to normal toor dal.Its very easy to prepare.It goes great with hot chapattis and rice.Below recipe will make 4 servings.
Ingredients:
1 Bunch Spinach cleaned and chopped
1 cup Toor Dal
1 Tomato chopped
1 Onion finely chopped
1 Diced Green chilli
1 inch ginger finely chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric.
1/4 tsp Chilli powder
2 tsp oil/ ghee
Salt to taste
Procedure:
1.Cook dal in a pressure cooker with a turmeric and keep it aside.
2.Heat oil in a pan.
3.Add cumin seeds. When it splutters add onion and ginger. Saute till the onions become translucent.
3.Add the tomatoes and green chillies. Saute for 5 minutes.
4.Then add the spinach and 1/2 cup water and let it cook till the spinach is cooked properly.
5.Add Cooked Dal and salt into the spinach mixture.
6.Cook it for 5 min.
7.Serve hot with chapattis and rice

Dal panchali
Dal panchali has its name derived from "panch" meaning 5 i.e. it is a combination of 5 dals.Its a delicious and very healthy for lunch and goes well with chappatis and masala bhindi.
Ingredients
1 tbsp. urad dal
1 tbsp. toor dal
1 tbsp. moong dal
1 tbsp. chana dal
1 tbsp. masoor dal
1 tsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 stick cinnamon
2 cloves
4 curry leaves
4 small red chilies
3 green chilies, finely chopped
2 tsp. finely chopped ginger
2 tomatoes, roughly chopped
1/2 tsp. garam masala
2 tbsp. chopped coriander
Juice of one lemon
2 tbsp. oil
Salt to taste
Procedure:
1.Wash all the dals. Soak for 1 hour and then drain.
2.Add 5 cups of water and cook in a pressure cooker.
3.Heat the oil and fry the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon and cloves until they begin to crackle.
4.Add the curry leaves, red chilies, ginger and garlic and fry for 1 minute.
5.Add the tomatoes and garam masala, the dals, coriander, lemon juice and salt and boil for 8 to 10 minutes.
11.Serve hot with chappatis.

Dal makhani

Dal makhani is one of the most famous recipe which has its origin from Punjab.It is good to taste and healthy to eat.It goes well with naan or roti or any indian bread.
Ingredients:
1 cup Black urad dal (whole)
1/4 cup Kidney beans
2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
3/4 cup Tomato puree
2 medium Tomatoes
1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon Garam masala
1 teaspoon Cumin powder
4-5 tablespoons Butter
3/4 cup Fresh cream(optional)
Salt to taste.
Procedure :
1.Soak the dal and rajma overnight.
2.Into the soaked dal add salt, 1 tsp red chilli powder and water (the water should be at least 3 times the amount of dal).
3.Cook the dals in pressure until they are cooked.
4.Melt the butter in a pan, add onions and saute till they turn brown.
5.Add the ginger paste..Saute till golden brown
6.Add finely chopped tomatoes and cook till they become soft.
7.Add the jeera powder, red chilli powder and saute for 1-2 minutes.
8.Add the tomato puree. Saute for another 2-3 minutes.
9.Add the cooked dals into this masala.
10.Add the garam masala powder.
11.Cover and cook over a low flame for about 30 minutes.
12.Add the fresh cream and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
13.Serve hot with naan or roti.
